Project Recap: Rooftop Unit Replacement at the Garden Theatre

Schwenn Services recently completed a crucial rooftop unit replacement project at the historic Garden Theatre in Downtown Winter Garden. The project involved the removal of two outdated package units and the installation of new, high-efficiency units. A crane was utilized to safely lift and remove the old units and position the new ones, ensuring a seamless transition. To accommodate the new units, curb adapters were installed, which allowed for the proper fit and function of the modern equipment. Given the complexity of the task and the tight time frame, Schwenn had 15 team members on-site to guarantee everything proceeded safely and efficiently. Coordination was key as the project took place in a high-traffic area, requiring road closures and strict safety protocols, including full personal protective gear (PPE) for all workers.

Communication between Schwenn Services and the Winter Garden Facilities. Division played a critical role in the success of this project. The team ensured that all work was completed within the designated time frame while adhering to the highest safety standards. Schwenn Services takes pride in contributing to the renovation of this cultural landmark, which has played a pivotal role in revitalizing the downtown historic district.

Originally built in 1935, the Garden Theatre was Central Florida’s first cinema designed for “talkies.” After decades of service and several renovations, the theatre was eventually closed and used by the Pound Motor Company before being meticulously restored and reopened in 2008. Today, it stands as a beloved performing arts center and a testament to the rich cultural history of Winter Garden.

Schwenn Services is honored to have partnered with the city on this significant project and looks forward to continuing to provide safe and reliable solutions for the community.
